Hi, our names are Ian Morris and Jonathon Rewcastle. We live in Middlesbrough in the North East of England and have been successfully show/breeding Persians & Exotics for over 25 years now under the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF) registered prefix ''Heathrose''. Our success has seen many Champions, Grand Champions, Imperial Grand Champions, UK Grand Champions, Best of Breed, Best in Show, National and Supreme winners over the years; including more recently, ''Best Persian Adult in Show'' at the Lakeland & District Cat Club Show 21/06/08. ''Working towards excellence, Heathrose Persians & Exotics endeavours to responsibly breed cats with substance, health and vigour, with bold open expression and profuse coats, ALWAYS with exceptional temperaments'' Where we were once known for show/breeding Whites, Bi/Tri-colours and Self's; our direction now focuses on the show/breeding of Solid, Tabby and Smoke (which we hope to be able to contribute to the moving forward and improvement of these under represented/declining breed colours now and in future years to come here in the UK) incorporating our own foundation, yesteryears pioneering and today's top progressive international winning blood lines including: Artemis, Athelstones, Bar B, Bolo, Bocassanas, Candirand, Cattrax, Countrygirl, Divarosa, Du Monet, Eddore, Finchfield, Hankypanky, Harwood, Ivywall, Korsvicks, Kyaleen, Lamettas, Marhei, Misty, Mysharas, Mystic Hill, Palmetto, Petovia, Purrty Katz, Rocawen, Ronlyn, Ruby Rose, Soft Magic, Spookipaws, South Paw, Vickits, Westholme To mention but a few... Under the Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB) ''Scanning & DNA Testing Scheme'', all of our lines are Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) tested NEGATIVE and are listed on the FAB/PKD negative register. We breed only a few litters per year and no more than one per cat as experience has taught us that we don't have to rely on quantity to produce quality. Our cats are first and foremost much cherished pets that live indoors with the exception of our stud boy's/some girls when of an appropriate age; who otherwise live in a secure purpose built cattery with heating, ample room to exercise in and plenty of toys to play with (who are also brought in the house on a regular basis and given attention). Heathrose Persians & Exotics is a CLOSED cattery (meaning we do not take in stud work). & NONE of our cats are introverted or shaved off owing to neglect. As ethical breeder's, we breed primarily for the purpose of showing for ourselves; however, not all our kittens will meet our strict criteria or are suitable in our breeding programmes. This gives opportunity for "pet" kittens to become available and on other occasions, show/breed/stud quality (preference is given to that of pet/show neuter homes mainly). Now and again we also have retired adults that we would like to home. This is a result of our policy to generally not breed our females past the age of 6 years old. As with the homing of our kittens, a contract is mandatory and we look to only place our adult's in permanent, indoor and above all, safe loving homes... We do ourselves have several neuters; however, to continue to move forward, manage numbers sensibly, and to prevent inbreeding, it is necessary to do this from time to time (regrettably). This we feel amounts to responsible breeding and anyone interested in offering one of our adults a ''windowsill in the sun'' would indeed receive many years of companionship (our cats living up to the age of 16 years old and over in some cases - although this can not be guaranteed due to natural selection).
